Keeping your own teeth
General dentistry is the everyday work of looking after teeth: finding problems while they are small, treating them simply, and helping you keep the teeth you have. A filling now avoids a root canal later; a root canal avoids an extraction; a well-kept mouth avoids most of it.
Check-ups and cleaning
A check-up looks at every tooth, the gums and the soft tissues of the mouth, with X-rays when needed. Many problems, early decay, gum disease, a cracked filling, cause no pain until they are advanced. Regular visits, usually every six months, catch them early. Cleaning removes the hardened tartar that brushing cannot, which is what keeps gums from bleeding and receding.
For every age
Children benefit from an early first visit, so the clinic feels familiar and decay is caught before it hurts. Adults need care for fillings, gums and worn teeth; older patients often need help with crowns, dentures and implants. The treatments below cover the most common needs, and tooth pain has its own page.
Treatments in general and family dentistry
Single-visit root canal treatment
Root canal treatment removes the infected nerve inside a tooth, cleans and seals its canals, and lets you keep the tooth. When the tooth allows, it is done in one visit.
- 1 visit, when the tooth allows
- 45 to 75 minutes
Cost range on request
Crowns and bridges
A crown is a cap that covers and protects a weakened tooth. A bridge replaces one or two missing teeth by fixing a false tooth to the teeth on either side of the gap.
- 2 visits, usually
Cost range on request
Surgical tooth removal
When a tooth cannot simply be lifted out, because it is buried, broken at the gum line or has curved roots, it is removed surgically through a small opening in the gum, under local anaesthesia.
- 1 visit, then a review
- About a week until you feel back to normal
Cost range on request
Braces and orthodontic treatment
Braces move teeth into better positions with small brackets joined by a wire that is adjusted every few weeks. They correct crowding, gaps and bite problems, for teenagers and adults alike.
- A check every 4 to 6 weeks
- 1 to 3 years, depending on the case
Cost range on request

Questions people ask
Not here? Ask us directly. We reply during clinic hours, till 9 pm.
Ask on WhatsAppHow often should I have a check-up?
Every six months suits most people. Some need to come more often, for example while treating gum disease; a few can come less often. We tell you which applies to you.
Do you see children?
Yes. An early first visit, even for a toddler, gets a child used to the clinic and catches decay early, when it is simplest to treat.
Does scaling damage the teeth?
No. Scaling removes hardened tartar that brushing cannot. Teeth can feel slightly sensitive afterwards, and gaps can seem larger where tartar had filled them, but the enamel is not harmed.
What should I do if I have a toothache?
Call or WhatsApp and tell us it hurts. Our Wakad clinic is open till 9 pm, Monday to Saturday, and so is Hinjewadi. The tooth pain page explains what helps until you are seen.
